Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy explains, in plain English, what information CatzPrint collects, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
CatzPrint is a cloud printing service made and run by Catalizo (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the CatzPrint website, the owner console, the station apps for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, the iPhone and iPad app, and the CatzPrint API. Catalizo is responsible for the personal information described here.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to run CatzPrint:
- Account details — your email address and, if you add it, your name. We don't use passwords: you sign in with a 6-digit code we email you.
- Sign-in and security information — the sessions you have open, the IP address and browser or app they came from, whether you trusted a browser, and your two-factor settings if you turn them on.
- Organization setup — names of your organizations, locations, stations and printers, team members and their roles, join requests, API keys (we store only a fingerprint of each key), webhook endpoints, templates and routing rules.
- Print jobs and files — the documents you print, plus details such as the title, reference, printer, status and timestamps of each job.
- Billing details — your plan, usage and invoices. Card details go straight to our payment provider, Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Messages you send us — for example through our contact form: your name, email, company, the number of stations and your message, along with your IP address to stop spam.
- Technical logs — records of requests to our servers, used to keep the service reliable and secure.
3. How we use it
- To provide CatzPrint: deliver your print jobs to the right printer, show you their status, and keep your devices in sync.
- To keep accounts safe: send sign-in codes, detect abuse, limit repeated requests, and keep an audit log of changes in your organization.
- To bill you correctly, count your free and paid prints, and send receipts.
- To answer your questions and help when something goes wrong.
- To tell you about important changes to the service, such as security notices or changes to these documents.
We don't sell your information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't use the content of your print jobs for anything except printing it.
4. Your documents and encryption
Every connection to CatzPrint uses TLS. Before a job leaves our servers it is sealed to the receiving station's own encryption key, so only that station can open it. Files we store are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Apps can also seal documents to our public key before sending them.
Organization owners decide whether station apps show job content and whether they can reprint. Our staff don't look at the content of your documents unless you ask us to help with a specific job, or the law requires it.
5. This website and cookies
This website doesn't set cookies and doesn't use analytics or advertising trackers. The owner console uses one essential cookie to keep you signed in securely; it isn't used for tracking. When you load a page that shows live information, such as pricing or system status, your browser asks our API for it directly.
6. Who we share it with
- Organizations you work with. If you join an organization, its owners and admins can see your email, the jobs you send to their printers and your print allowance.
- Service providers who help us run CatzPrint — hosting, email delivery and payments (Stripe). They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- Authorities, when the law requires it. Where we can, we'll tell you first.
- A new owner, if Catalizo or CatzPrint is sold or merged. This policy would continue to protect your information.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account and organization information while your account is open. For what you print:
- Job documents — the content you print — are deleted 30 days after the job finishes.
- Uploaded files are deleted after 7 days.
- Job records — the title, status and times of each job — remain for your history and billing until the account is deleted.
These are the default periods; CatzPrint administrators can change them, and we'll update this page if the defaults change. Once a document is deleted it can't be previewed or reprinted. Sign-in codes expire after a few minutes and are cleared within days. Billing records are kept for as long as tax law requires. Messages you send us are kept while we help you and for a reasonable time afterwards.
8. Your choices and rights
You can:
- see and update your details in the console or app;
- sign out other sessions, and turn on two-factor sign-in;
- leave an organization, or delete your account from your account settings;
- ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it.
To make a request, contact us. We'll reply within 20 working days. If you're unhappy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the privacy or data protection authority where you live.
9. Children
CatzPrint is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
10. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell account owners by email or in the console before it applies.
